Welcome to Ocean Therapy, the work-home of Dr. Julia Strait, Licensed Psychologist…(That’s me.)
I’m a compassionate, highly trained and deeply knowledgeable therapist dedicated to helping young adults navigate the often-turbulent waters of anxiety and identity.
I’m committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental but information-rich space where you can explore your deepest questions and concerns with curiosity, compassion, and mindfulness.
Ready to get to know yourself?
Hi, I’m Dr. Julia Strait
In former lives, I have served as high school/middle school teacher, university professor, school psychologist, researcher, and trainer. All these experiences have set a fire in me to help people through the hardest times of their lives.
My friends and my clients describe me as compassionate, relatable, open, fun, and obsessive about psychology. (No really, it’s a problem.)
I’d love to help you get to know yourself and feel better.
"The most common form of despair is not being who you are."
– Søren Kierkegaard
Therapy Services
Your 20s and 30s can suck. But it can also become the greatest opportunity to get to know your True Self.
My Mission
My Approach
My approach to therapy is multifaceted, because people and problems are complex. It’s a unique combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and “spiritual friendship”.
Importantly, everything I do is grounded in the existential-humanistic tradition, which means I see you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.
